Turkey vs Italy

The competition, which was postponed for a year due to the coronavirus outbreak, will finally begin on Friday night, kicking off a month of football throughout Europe to identify Europe's finest squad.

Italy, one of 11 host teams, will open their campaign as Group A favorites when they face Turkey at the Stadio Olimpico tonight, before group rivals Wales and Switzerland face off in Baku tomorrow.

Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, and Jorginho are among Italy's experienced grafters, while Alessandro Bastoni and Federico Chiesa are fresh new talents. Whatever team Roberto Mancini selects will be loaded with talent.

Turkey, on the other hand, is being considered as a dark horse after defeating the Netherlands 4-2 in a World Cup qualifier earlier this year. Burak Yilmaz is a continuous goal danger, and his duel with the Italian defense will be fascinating.

Here's where you can keep up with all the latest news and activity from the Stadio Olimpico, including the opening ceremony:

In the Euro 2020 opening, Roberto Mancini advises Italy not to overlook Turkey.

Roberto Mancini has issued a warning to his confident Italy squad ahead of their Euro 2020 campaign opener against Turkey at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Mancini's side enters the tournament as one of the favorites for the trophy, having gone 27 games without losing, including winning all ten of their qualification games.

However, Mancini, who spent a year coaching Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig, is well aware of his opponents' danger and the risk of freezing on the big stage.

Turkey is in fantastic shape ahead of the Euro 2020 opener.

Turkey has scored 14 goals in six games this calendar year, failing to score only once, in a 0-0 tie with Guinea in May. They are a youthful side, with an average age of 24 days and 352 days, the youngest among the Euro 2020 squads.

Senol Gunes' side was also the only team in Euro 2020 qualification to not surrender a single goal from open play, and their three goals surrendered was an equal low with Belgium.

However, they have lost their first game in each of their past four European Championship outings, and they have only maintained one clean sheet in their last ten major tournament games.

Italy names a formidable team to face Turkey in Euro 2020.

Roberto Mancini has chosen two full-backs who have frequently played as wing-backs, with Alessandro Florenzi on the right and Leonardo Spinazzola on the left, which appears to be a hint of his willingness to push Turkey and attack.

Federico Chiesa comes off the bench for the Azzurri but might be a significant figure in the second half because of his speed, which might present problems for a fatigued Turkish defense.
